Abstract

After Caldwell-Luc operation, the antral cavity becomes obliterated gradually by granunlation tissue and, in turn, fibrous
tissue. The amount of obliteration depends upon the rate of growth of the epithelium from the natural ostium and antrostomy site into the maxillary sinus cavity. Eventually the largest part of the sinus cavity is obliterated, leaving a small medial air containing space well exteriorized to the nasal cavity by the antrostomy and possibly by the natural ostium.
This is a case report of long-term conservative drainage care of an oroantral fistula as a complication of oral
bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw(BRONJ). The result was good without recurrence of oroantral fistula and sinusitis.
